This book discusses the connections between the mind and the body showing how to create balance and harmony through powerful but gentle exercise which work with the Five Elements that relate to certain parts of your body, personality and emotions. Using the elements and philosophy behind Chinese medicine, it shows you how to: transform anger; conquer fear; release sadness; break the worry habit; and enhance self awareness. 

Each Element – fire, water, wood, earth and metal has a different personality type associated with it. Healing Your Emotions takes you through case studies and questionnaires to reveal your Element type, and then offers exercises, both mental and physical, which will help you identify and deal with the emotions which stop you being healthy.

It uses an action plan which borrows from both Eastern and Western techniques:

Angela & John Hicks are the joint principals and co-founders of the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine (CICM) in Reading. She is the author or co-author of six books: author of The Principles of Chinese Medicine, The Principles of Acupuncture, 77 Ways to Improve Your Wellbeing, and The Acupuncture Handbook, and co-author of Healing your Emotions with John Hicks, and the textbook Five Element Constitutional Acupuncture with John Hicks and Peter Mole. John is the author of The Principles of Chinese Herbal Medicine, and co-author of Healing your Emotions, he also co-wrote the textbook Five Element Constitutional Acupuncture with Angela Hicks and Peter Mole. They have each been practising for over 25 years.
